Celebrate Independence Day with these vibrant and easy-to-make 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats! Perfect for summer gatherings, these colorful treats are a delightful combination of chewy marshmallows and crispy rice cereal, layered in patriotic red, white, and blue.


Ingredients

  • 30 oz marshmallows (divided)
  • 18 cups puffed rice cereal (divided)
  • 9 oz unsalted butter (divided)
  • Red & blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch dish and set aside.
  2. For the red layer: Melt 3 oz of butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add 10 oz of marshmallows and stir until smooth. Mix in red food coloring to desired shade, then fold in puffed rice cereal until coated. Press firmly into the prepared dish.
  3. For the white layer: Repeat step 2 without food coloring, pressing the mixture on top of the red layer.
  4. For the blue layer: Again, repeat step 2 using blue food coloring before pressing onto the white layer.
  5. Allow treats to set for about 30 minutes before cutting into squares.
