  3. In another bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla; then stir into dry ingredients.
  4. Fold in the apple mixture gently.
  5. Preheat the waffle iron; spoon batter into molds and cook until golden brown.
  6. For the glaze: whisk powdered sugar with milk and vanilla until smooth; dip or drizzle over warm donuts.
