Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak (thinly sliced)
  • 1 lb fresh broccoli (cut into florets)
  • 6 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 Tbsp light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger (grated)
  • 2 tsp garlic (grated)
  • Olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare: Cook white rice first if serving. Freeze flank steak for 30 minutes for easier slicing, then thinly slice against the grain.
  2. Make Sauce: Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and hot water in a bowl; set aside.
  3. Cook Broccoli: Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté broccoli for 4-5 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender; remove from pan.
  4. Cook Beef: Increase heat to high, add another Tbsp of oil, and sauté beef until cooked through (about 2 minutes per side).
  5. Combine: Add the sauce to beef, simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened. Return broccoli to skillet; stir well and serve hot over rice.
