Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Taco seasoning (your favorite brand)
  • Toppings: sour cream, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Create a well and add milk and oil; mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough for 2–4 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
  4. Divide the dough into 8 pieces; roll each piece into disks about 6 inches wide.
  5. Poke holes in each disk to prevent puffing during frying. Fry in hot oil for about 1–2 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Cook ground beef according to taco seasoning instructions; fill chalupa shells with meat and desired toppings.
