Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Taco seasoning packet
  • Sour cream
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Create a well in the center and add milk and vegetable oil. Mix until a dough forms; knead for 2–4 minutes.
  2. Cover the dough and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan to 350°F. Divide dough into eight pieces; roll each into a disk about 6 inches wide and poke holes with a fork.
  4. Fry each disk for about 15 seconds until puffed; reshape into taco shape and fry until golden brown (30 seconds to 2 minutes). Drain on a wire rack.
  5. Cook ground beef according to taco seasoning instructions. Fill each shell with beef and desired toppings.
