- 2 cups chicken stock
- 1 cup bourbon (optional)
- 3/4 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
Instructions
- Soak the navy beans overnight in water, then drain and rinse.
- In a large skillet, cook chopped bacon until crisp. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté onions in the bacon grease until caramelized; add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- In a large pot, combine soaked beans, chicken stock, bourbon (if using), BBQ sauce, ketchup, molasses, maple syrup, smoked paprika, and cumin. Bring to a boil.
- Transfer the mixture to the crockpot; stir in cooked bacon and sautéed onions.
- Cook on high for 5-6 hours or low for 10-12 hours until beans are tender.
