  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup unsulfured molasses
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • (optional) zest of one small orange
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, molasses, vanilla extract, and optional orange zest; mix until smooth.
