  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 12 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small container, mix cornstarch and cold water; set aside.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil; set aside.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add broccoli and cook for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp; remove from skillet.
  4. In the same skillet, cook ground beef and onion until browned; drain excess grease.
  5. Add bell pepper and stir for 1 minute.
  6. Pour in the prepared sauce mixture; bring to a boil then simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Stir in the cornstarch mixture until desired thickness is reached.
  8. Return broccoli to the skillet and heat through; serve over cooked rice.
