  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 68 Tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9" round cake pans with parchment paper and non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients; mix until smooth. Stir in boiling water.
  4. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to cooling racks.
  6. For frosting, beat softened butter with cocoa powder and powdered sugar; add vanilla and milk until creamy.
  7. Frost cooled cake layers as desired.
