Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round baking pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir in hot coffee until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 30-38 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. For the frosting, melt chopped chocolate and cool slightly. Beat butter with egg yolk and powdered sugar until fluffy; mix in melted chocolate.
  8. Frost the cooled cakes as desired and top with Chocolate Crispearls.
