Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sourdough discard (or active starter)
- 3/4 cup water
- 3 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
- 6 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Filling: 3 tablespoons butter (melted), 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- Frosting: 1 cup powdered sugar, 4 oz cream cheese, 2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling; set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add honey, melted butter, water, and sourdough starter to dry ingredients; stir until dough forms.
- Knead dough by hand for about five minutes until soft.
- Roll out the dough into an even rectangle about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
- Spread the filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll up tightly from one long side and slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish or cast iron skillet and bake for 25–35 minutes until golden brown.
