  • 200 grams sourdough discard (unfed)
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or rosemary)
  • Garlic powder
  • Flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. In a stand mixer bowl, combine warmed milk, yeast, and sugar; add flour, sourdough discard, beaten egg, herbs, salt, and garlic powder.
  2. Mix on low speed; gradually add melted butter until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and slightly tacky (3–4 minutes).
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise for 60–90 minutes until doubled.
  5. Prepare the topping by mixing softened butter with herbs and garlic powder.
  6. Divide risen dough into 12 pieces; flatten each piece and spread with the butter mixture before folding.
  7. Arrange in a greased loaf pan; let rise for another 30–45 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
