  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb ground pork
  • 16 oz ricotta cheese
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 9 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 28 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent, then add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef and pork; cook until browned, then drain excess fat. Mix in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 30 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, dried basil, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread meat sauce in a baking dish; layer with uncooked noodles followed by half the ricotta mixture and one-third of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used up.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly.
