  • 1/4 oz active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (100° to 110°F)
  • 1/2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 8 oz full fat sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 3 to 3 ½ c bread flour (all-purpose can also be used!)
  • â…“ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 c powdered sugar
  • 3 Tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • 24 Tbsp milk
  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • Purple, green and gold sprinkles to decorate

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining it with warm water and sugar; let it foam.
  2. In a saucepan, melt sour cream, granulated sugar, butter, and salt. Cool to lukewarm.
  3. In a stand mixer, combine the sour cream mixture, yeast mixture, and egg. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead until smooth and elastic. Let rise until doubled in size.
  5. Shape into a ring with cinnamon filling inside and allow to rise again.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 25-35 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar with cream cheese and milk; drizzle over cooled cake before decorating.
