- 1 cup salted butter (room temperature)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons salted butter (for caramel)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 8 ounces milk or dark chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cream together butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Gradually mix in flour and vanilla extract.
- Press the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes until golden.
- For the caramel layer, melt butter, salt, corn syrup, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in half of the cream and let boil for 5 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and add remaining cream and vanilla.
- Pour the caramel over the baked shortbread.
- Melt chocolate with remaining cream in another saucepan over low heat, then pour over caramel layer. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
