  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 34 cups powdered sugar, sifted (for frosting)
  • 23 tbsp milk or heavy cream (for frosting)
  • A few drops of ivory or peach food coloring (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Candy fangs or small dots of red gelatin (for decoration)
  • Red syrup or edible red gel (for 'blood' drips)
  • Straws (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla, and red food coloring.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, and salt; combine with wet ingredients alternating with buttermilk.
  4. Spoon batter into muffin cups and bake for 18–20 minutes. Cool completely.
  5. Prepare the filling by mixing cake crumbs with sweetened condensed milk and melted butter; color it red.
  6. Hollow out cooled cupcakes and fill with the red velvet mixture.
  7. Make buttercream frosting by mixing softened butter and powdered sugar; color it skin-tone.
